Gary Howard Burgess

April 28, 1952 - July 9, 2014

Dr. Gary Howard Burgess beloved husband, father, brother, and friend was received into the arms of his loving Savior on July 9, 2014 after a brief illness. Dr. Burgess is a Dallas native born at Methodist Hospital in 1952. He graduated from Justin F. Kimball High School and earned a degree in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Texas at Arlington. He subsequently received his Medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Dr. Burgess specialized in Pediatrics and Neonatal Medicine after a Fellowship at Brown University Women's and Infants Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. He also served on the Faculty of Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Burgess returned to Texas in 1998 and has practiced primarily at Medical City Dallas, St Paul Hospital, and Dallas Methodist where he was born 62 years ago. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years Tracy, his daughter Paige Genung and her husband Greg, brother Jeffrey, sister-in-law Teri Burgess, nephew Beau Burgess, niece Christina Esquivel, and niece Jennifer Rodriguez and husband Julio. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur H. Burgess and Elisabeth Burgess of Dallas. Gary will be most remembered for his joy, compassion, and generosity. Dr. Burgess was a tireless health advocate on behalf of infants and children and has served on the Board of Easter Seals North Texas. He has touched many lives and will be missed by his many friends, co-workers, and family. Many heavy hearts are grieving the loss of this gifted and loving man. Memorials may be made to the Easter Seals North Texas or Disability Resources Inc.. Funeral Services are to be held at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano 11 am. Thursday, July 17th
